David Shaw: Bio

David Shaw

Add one part AC/DC and one part Dirty Looks to one part Cheap Trick and one part Enuff Z’Nuff. Shake well. Then, sit back and enjoy the rock and roll feast that David Shaw brings to the table.

A veteran of the New York City hard rock scene, Shaw blends smooth vocals and power pop sensibilities with crackling riffs and energetic choruses proving that good music is not that hard to find in the current confusing rock and roll landscape.

Shaw cut his teeth with Shotgun Annie, consistently packing venues and opening for some of the hard rock era’s biggest bands. Soul Crunch followed and developed quite a reputation of its own with its manic live shows and dependable blues rock melodies. Shaw later fronted Down With The Blonde. The band, a two-time finalist in the popular Long Island Music Festival, featured Shaw breaking out with intricate rhythms and complex yet accessible hooks.

Shaw spent several years in Los Angeles writing and recording before finishing his latest disc in Arizona and moving back to NYC. Now a solo artist, Shaw returns and delivers again. His new release, Walkin’ on a Wire, features 13 pulse-pounding tracks weaving crunchy guitar lines with harmonies that are nothing short of ear candy. The disc is currently being distributed by Perris Records and has garnered positive reviews both in the United States and in Europe.

Opening with the urgent “From Now,” Shaw will grab you from the first line. “I got a gun/I got a finger on the trigger tonight.” From there, Walkin’ on a Wire explodes like a bullet. From the fist-raising chorus of “Keep Up With You” to the haunting “What She Has Inside,” this strong collection will undoubtedly have the most skeptical listener tapping his foot and humming along.

So go Walkin’ on a Wire with David Shaw. Feel good about rock and roll again.
