Rocklahoma and Other Stuff - July 16, 2007

It was quite a week for David Shaw & The Round Trip. Your votes really helped raise national awareness about the band and we could not be more appreciative. Thank you to everyone who took the time to cast a vote for us. It really does mean an awful lot.

Here's what happened:

We did not win the contest to play the Rocklahoma main stage on Sunday. But we did come in third which is darn good! A big push was then made to land us a spot on the side stage at the festival. At first we were shut out of that opportunity but then lots of voices of support began to be raised - this was support from friends, fans and strangers from all over the country who discovered us because of this competition. Suddenly, the festival organizers started reconsidering their plans and they began trying to find ways to get us on the bill.

But politics, delays and the cost of travel interfered and though we were finally offered a slot last Wednesday (June 11th), it was too late to pull it together and get to Oklahoma to play on Friday. We tried to get it all figured out but it was not to be. Jpot Music graciously said they would sell our CDs to our new fans in their side stage tent.

In the meantime, now we gear up for a busy summer and fall. We will embark on an east coast tour on or around August 18th. Dates are still being finalized but shows in Philadelphia and Virginia are already posted and dates reaching as far south as Miami should be unveiled soon.

In addition, we hope and expect to be playing a series of shows in the Los Angeles area over Veterans Day weekend in November. Details will be announced when they become available.

As for our local New York fans, please come out and have a drink with us next Saturday, July 21st at the Vintage Lounge in Levittown. Let's raise a toast to your support and celebrate the fact that this band was offered the Rocklahoma spot despite being unable to make the last minute trip.

We will also serve as the opening act for the legendary White Lion (you know, the band that wrote "Wait" and "When The Children Cry"). That will be at The Crazy Donkey in Farmingdale on Wednesday, July 25th. Discount advance tickets are available from band members or by writing to roundtrip@earthlink.net. Please come on out and show your support for David Shaw & The Round Trip.

Vote! Vote! Vote! - June 26, 2007

Thanks to all of you who voted for David Shaw & The Round Trip in the www.jpotmusic.com competition to win the main stage spot at the Rocklahoma festival. Your support means a lot.

We finished fifth out of all the entries which is very respectable. We have now entered the competition to win the Sunday main stage spot. We need to rally you one more time as well as all your friends and family and really push us over the top. Even if we don’t win, a strong voter turnout can land us on one of the side stages. So your vote absolutely counts.

The contest is open for voting beginning on Wednesday June 27th and closes on July 6th. If you registered to vote last time, then just log in, click ‘view contests’ then click ‘vote’ and click on the “Rocklahoma Sunday main stage” contest. Scroll through the entries below the rules and you’ll find three songs from us this time. Please vote ‘10’ for all three. Just click ‘10’ then ‘submit vote’ and you’re done. It’s just that easy!

If you didn’t register and vote last time, please make a difference this time out. Even if you don’t really know us, know you’re helping out some good guys and a damn good band in the pursuit of a dream opportunity. Just go to www.jpotmusic.com and click ‘member registration’, fill out the form, get your verification email and then log in and follow the directions above. It takes no more than five minutes.

Please ask your friends, co-workers, family, significant others and all passersby on the streets to vote as well. Fifth was nice but now let’s push the band to first place and win this thing. We want nothing more than to rock Rocklahoma! It would mean the world to us.

We know we bug you with these notices - maybe too often. But this is a real important opportunity and we can’t do any of this without the support of you guys! So thanks for being patient with us and please vote for David Shaw & The Round Trip.

(and by the way…)

We’re playing Jersey this Friday night at 9:30 p.m.
Axis Lounge
316 19th street
Carlstadt, NJ 07072

Hope to see some of you there!

Steve Cone Joins David Shaw & The Round Trip On Stage! - May 17, 2007

Saturday, May 12th at Fuzzy's was a particularly fun night for both, members of David Shaw & The Round Trip and fans in attendance. Guitarist Steve Cone was visiting from Arizona. Cone played all guitar tracks on "Walkin' on a Wire" and co-produced the CD with David Shaw. He joined the band on stage for renditions of "Welcome Home," "Keep Up With You" and "Under Your Skin."

In addition, the band was joined on stage during a jam by Paul from No Drama, Cone, Marc Fox, ex-Down With The Blonde drummer Erik Fehrenbach and Mark (ex-Pistol Dawn bassist). Besides a jam on the David Shaw song "Tinkerbell", rockin' versions of ZZ Top's "Tush" and Cheap Trick's "Surrender" were performed.

The night was a great success and the band hopes for a repeat of the good times when they play Fuzzy's again on August 11th.
